The winner of an Avery Fisher Career Grant, Anthony McGill currently serves as principal clarinet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Mr. McGill performed at the 56th Presidential Inauguration ceremony, January 20, 2009. The clarinetist appeared alongside violinist Itzhak Perlman, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and pianist Gabriela Montero, playing a musical selection arranged by composer John Williams.
